"Wrong" comment isn't wrong

Sad to say that these days, the critic gets more publicity than the doer. My support goes to Gurujot and Sat Kirin Kaur for delivering the message. It isn't easy to put everything together in a constructive way. Bravo! It's better to be a doer and learn in the process, than not attempt it at all. Read my thread for vital information not usually discussed in Forums and kindly leave a comment. The thread is under Forum - General Sikhi Discussions named "Naam, Bani and Shabd - Are they the same thing ?" It is important to me that discussions remain constructive, positive and open.

feminism and sikhism are two

feminism and sikhism are two different things! panjab or america are males dominated thts a different story!still panjab has no legal prostitution centre just coz of khalsa presence than any other foreighn land or ppl!Khalsa(baptised as sikh) has fairly Great track record n History of treatment with women than any other religion in any other country; not talkin about patit sikhs who are not even sikhs yet u saying!ask daughters of khalsa if u don't trust!as far as gurbani is concerned has given women level above kings as a mother!and the women who don't need men and wanna increase ego as women can never understand sikhism or vice versa!parvirtikaram!!nor do they 'll understand maryada of sanctum sanctorium or nector! panch parvan!are just new to sikhism !and powers etc has never given importance in sikhism a lady must seek her beloved husband god!and remember purakhe seve so purakh hoye ...becomes complete men --Khalsa! never doubt!

Beautiful !!!!You may want to edit the question, though

Wonderful thoughts by Sat Kirin Kaur Ji. Gurujot Singh, I understand where the question is coming from, however like the Veerji above mentioned it comes across as if Sikhi itself supports Male Domination. You may want to rephrase / re-edit to say "In the Sikh Society today, there appears to be......." ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਕੌਰ http://gurmeetkaur.blogspot.com

Wrong comment

The interviewer starts with his own judgement,"Sikhi is full of male domination".This is a basically wrong statement, even blasphemous, because the whole of Gurbani is based on the human being being a Soul-bride of the Almighty God Parmatma who is her Husband Lord.Even in real life, the Gurus emphasized on equal status for women and their actual lives exemplify this fact. What can be said, however,is that Sikh community contains ever-present incidents of inequality and discrimination against women. But you cannot blame Sikhi or Sikhism for that. There are so many cultural, historical and other factors behing this persisitent abuse of women. It is some practitioners of Sikhi who call themselves Sikh but are not really true Sikhs, who are to blame.

Re: Wrong comment

just clarify, i am the interviewer, and i think it would be understood that of course the teachings of sikhi are about equality and egalitarianism. that has never been under question. However, this is not in practice amongst so many sikhs. my apologies if it came out wrong. when i say "in sikhi" i mean the way sikhism is being practiced now.
